Sunny Ojeagbase, who was known as S.O. before adding Emmanuel to his name, died on Saturday, February 26, 2022, in Atlanta, Georgia, following a brief illness. When he founded the Sports Souvenir weekly newspaper in 1984, he was the first publisher of sports news in Nigeria. Between 1984 and 1994, he brought many more groundbreaking sports titles to the Nigerian sports industry, including Complete Football magazine, Complete Football International (CFI), and International Soccer Review (ISR). He also co-founded the Success Attitude Development Centre (SADC), which has spawned and inspired hundreds of successful companies.
In 1995, Ojeagbase launched Complete Sports as Nigeria's number one daily sports publication, sandwiched between those two significant occurrences in Nigerian sports. Dr. Ojeagbase was a forerunner in the fields of sports journalism, publishing, mentoring, and entrepreneurship. Complete Sports offices, Plot 9, Alhaji Adenekan Street, Okota, Lagos, and SADC headquarters, No. 36, Esuola Street, Off Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos, have both opened condolence registers.
